Martha McCormick
FOUNDER & CONVENER
…collaboration, challenge and creativity are key parts of Martha’s journey, and every next step is an adventure. Join her and the Next Step team as they dig deep into problems, and emerge with new solutions.
Sara Lockie
EDUCATOR & INFO MANAGER
… is all the scientist on the team. Her passion for education includes traditional and innovative approaches as she involves people of all ages and abilities in their progress. Sara has faced life’s toughest challenges and emerged with strength and a positive attitude. She brings a different perspective to Next Step, from her family’s farm in northeast Iowa, as they moved back there a few years ago.
Dan Zimmerman
KINDNESS & COLLABORATION LEADER
… uses mindfulness and humor to build relationships based on understanding. Dan develops teams and organizes the Central Iowa Yoga Retreat. Dan works with Sara Lockie on the Farm to School & ECE Coalition, presenting and staffing a table at the annual conference, and assisting with online meetings.
Ashley Meacham
GOAL & SYSTEM DESIGNER
… took off running in August, even as she was getting her three daughters ready to start school. She is working to corral the Next Step social media efforts, and make them more efficient and effective. Her meeting notes are already indispensable. She and Dan will be cooking up some new offerings in team building and productivity this fall. Watch for it!
Shelly Johnson
OUTREACH & ENERGY GENERATOR
…is sometimes described as Tinkerbell on crack. Like that little sprite she is strong and responsible, and will go to any length for the people and work she loves. Shelly motivates students of all ages with her energetic approach to learning, and taking the next step forward.
Ashley Kirvin
MIND & PLAYFULNESS PROMOTER
…specializes in turning frowns upside down. The newest Next Step team member brings training and experience in everything from adventure to yoga. Her enthusiasm for creating mindful experiences and resources permeates her work, as well as the Next Step Adventure team.
